Five generations of wood craftsmanship
Mr. Gary Ort has been involved with wood lumber, logs, and hardwood flooring throughout his entire life. His great-grandfather, grandfather, and father (Gerald Eugene Ort Sr.) laid the groundwork for everything he is involved in today. Since 1975, he has been crafting and selling different wood products.
Mr. Gary Ort is a master craftsman with a deep expertise in woodworking and an extensive knowledge of wood products and hardwood flooring.

For generations, the love of wood has been passed down from fathers to sons. All of them grew up on the old sawmill and continued the family’s passion for real wood & wood flooring. In 1998, Mr. Gary Ort and his family established the first MFMA flooring mill. Over the course of his 11-year tenure, the company manufactured over 75 million square feet of solid wood flooring. Additionally, he founded several companies, achieving significant milestones under his leadership.
Today, Ort Flooring & Lumber is guided by the same principles of corporate responsibility. We manufacture our quality wood products in Montello, WI. It is our mission to provide high-quality maple gym flooring, floor systems, hardwood flooring, wood blockboard core, and other related products to our customers.

Gary Ort
Co-Founder | President
Mr. Gary Ort has been involved with wood lumber, logs, and hardwood flooring for his entire life. His great-grandfather, grandfather, and father (Gerald Eugene Ort Sr.) laid the groundwork for everything he is involved in today. Since 1975, Mr. Gary Ort has been producing and selling wood products. He possesses extensive woodworking skills and knowledge about wood products, sports flooring, hardwood flooring, and wood platforms (wood blockboard core).
Floyd Shelton
Technical Director
Mr. Floyd Shelton began his career in the gym floor business in the early 1970s after earning his engineering degree. He started working for a gym floor installation company with deep roots dating back to the late 1800s. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the industry, serving as the President of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA) and Chairman of the technical committee. He progressed from being a salesperson working for others to becoming the owner of his own gym floor installation company.
Rose Pagel
National Sales Manager
Mrs. Pagel grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where she received a degree in Business Administration from Bryant Stratton College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She later earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. Soon after, she secured her first role in the sports flooring industry at AGA, Inc. in Amasa, Michigan.
Karen Camp
Office Manager
Mrs. Karen Camp joined Ort Flooring & Lumber LLC in May 2023 as a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant. In 2024, she was promoted to Office Manager, responsible for coordinating a broad range of services and resources to ensure the company operates efficiently. With over 20 years of management and retention experience, she possesses a wide spectrum of skills. Mrs. Camp is highly organized, pays great attention to detail and is willing to take on any task. Despite being new to the wood flooring industry, she is a fast-paced learner and is eager to expand her knowledge and skills to fully support the company.
